India is embarking on an exciting journey towards becoming a developed nation (Viksit Bharat) by 2047, with a bold vision to expand its aviation infrastructure. Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu announced that the country aims to increase the number of airports from the current 157 to an impressive 350 over the next two decades. This initiative is part of a larger effort to enhance connectivity and promote tourism across the nation.
During a recent event celebrating World Tourism Day, the minister highlighted the government’s commitment to improving domestic travel and providing exceptional facilities at airports. Recognizing that airports are the "gateways to a country," the focus will be on welcoming international visitors with warmth and hospitality.
The increase in airport numbers is already yielding positive results; in 2014, around 4.6 crore travelers arrived in India, and today, that figure has surged to nearly 7 crore, with more than 35% coming for leisure and recreation. By connecting more remote and beautiful locations, India is poised to attract even more tourists, making it a vibrant destination for global travelers.
This ambitious plan not only enhances India's aviation landscape but also creates numerous opportunities for students and professionals in fields like aviation, tourism, and hospitality. As India moves forward, the future looks bright for aspiring individuals ready to be part of this growth story!
